How to make Sawmill Breakfast Gravy

Breakfast is not complete without a nice flavor of broth on freshly baked cookies!
Ingredients
- 1 lb of breakfast sausage
- 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 1/4 cup fat drippings
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper or to taste
- 2 cups milk
Instructions
- Cook the sausages in a cast iron pan until well done.
- Lift off the pan and pour everything away, except for a quarter cup of fat.
- Turn off the fire to prevent it from burning and add the flour to the crusts.
- Cook the mixture and stir over medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes or until the mixture begins to turn golden brown. (This burns the raw flour taste that must be done before entering the liquid)
- Add the milk slowly with stirring constantly.
- Cook the broth until it boils and thickens.
- Sausages can be added to the broth. Add salt and pepper as the broth approaches the required consistency.
